Two Quite Different Adventures

By Sentral Market, KL (Malaysia)

Hello again, it’s been a while…

At the end of October, I went on an adventure, back to Malaysia; I haven’t been back there for 12 whole years!

I had an absolutely fabulous time with family.

Stayed with my oldest sister the whole time and spent so much time in her company, it was just wonderful.

My other sister, who also lives in the UK, was there, having travelled before her husband, and for the first week, us three sisters were together.

Also, the time I spent with my oldest sister’s children and their families was great too.

After two weeks, it was time to come home to my boys and kitties.

I got home on the 18th of November, and on the 22nd, decided to have another, rather different, adventure – I had a mini stroke.

Totally out of the blue, no warning.

The MRI confirmed it was a stroke, on the left side of the brain; thank the Lord, there was no bleeding.

My right arm and right leg were affected, but I could still speak, and my memory and perception were all fine.

I stayed overnight in hospital for the scans and for the physio assessment and was back home the next evening.

Being right-handed, it’s certainly taken some getting used to, having to relearn how to use my right arm/hand again.

But, in the big scheme of things, I am blessed, and God is looking after me; the rate of my recovery is quite something.

Towards the end of my first week home, I could shower and dress myself, feed myself using my right hand, started to be able to cook and bake, could go up and down the stairs easier… things just take a little longer than they used to.

But I’m not allowed to drive for 28 days, so that will take me to a few days before Christmas, and I’ll be assessed to see if I am ok to drive.

The most frustrating thing for me is having to practice writing and typing again; I can write, but it looks nothing like my writing and it’s so slow, and while I can more or less type, my right fingers keep hitting the wrong keys.

Anyway, it’ll be some time before I’m back to blogging regularly.

In the meantime, take care, make good choices, and if you’re of the faith, remember, no matter what, God is good.
