Christmas Mini Journals and ETSY Shop Open... Finally!

I’m hijacking my ‘Friday chat’ slot to announce that I’ve finally stopped dithering and opened my Etsy shop – ‘LunaJoyJournals’!

The journals that are available are the ‘Tall Journals’, ‘Scalloped Journals’, and the ‘Wedding Altered Book Journal’.

I’ve also made a set of 10 Christmas mini journals, which are in the shop.

I got the idea for these after watching a video by Pam at The Paper Outpost, in which she used a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper for the cover.

So, I gathered some 12x12 Christmas scrapbook paper and cardstock which I’ve had for years and haven’t used.

It’s quite simple to make – once you’ve decided the size you want the finished journal to be, fold down the top half then fold up the bottom half so it overlaps and creates space for pockets.

As the sides are ‘open’, you can seal them with washi tape, as Pam did, or with paper remnants, which is what I did.

Then decorate however you wish.

To be honest, I hadn’t planned on making 10, but I got carried away!

Pam also had the brilliant idea of tying the thread (used to tie the signature to the cover) on the outside instead of the inside as we always do.

I used red and white twine to sew the signature in and thought it would be fun to use it as a closure.

That means the gold ribbon, which is removable, can be used for other things.

The journal measures 15cm high and 11cm wide with 1 signature of 12 pages, making a total of 24 sides.

The covers made from cardstock don’t have a fold-over flap, but the covers made from scrapbook paper do.

There are pockets in the front and back inside covers, filled with journaling cards and tags.

The pages are a mix of Christmas scrapbook papers, tea-dyed papers, brown packaging paper, and notebook paper with stamped Christmas designs on 3 pages.

There are 2 more pockets inside the journal, with more cards.

Here are the 9 other journals, showing the different covers and patterned papers on the inside.

This green journal is one with a fold-over flap, the open end covered with a piece of yellow scrapbook paper.

As always, if you want to see a full flip-through of the journals, here’s the video.

I hope you’ll pop over to my Etsy shop to see if there’s anything there you might like.

And, if you want something more personal, custom orders are also available.
