New Direction for the Blog

(sunshine through trees - own photo)

At the end of last week’s post about sharing my testimony, I said I’d lay out my plans going forward for my blog.

When I first started blogging, it was to share the things that interested me and, at the time, I was well into making altered books and scrapbooking.

Then, I started to talk more about writing.

Alongside that, I also shared my progress in learning to ride a horse.

It didn’t take long for the blog to become more focussed on writing, interspersed with book and TV/film reviews.

Then my love of history wanted some attention too, so I began sharing posts on historical things that I found interesting.

All that to say, my blog has never been about any one thing, but more eclectic, the things that interest me.

And I’m very grateful for those who visit my blog, spend time looking around and take the time to comment.

One of the reasons I cut back from weekly blogging is because I was struggling to find satisfying books to read, something I’ve spoken about on previous blog posts.

Also, while I still love history, the time it was taking to research, compile then post historical topics appealed less and less.

While my reading has picked up again, thanks to the classics, I’ve also been reading the Bible, which, to my surprise, turned out to be more interesting that I was expecting.

After eventually reading through the whole Bible last year, I decided I want to make reading the Bible an annual habit while making a closer study of it.

‘NKJV Journal the Word Reference Bible’ by Thomas Nelson

I treated myself to a journaling Bible, and that’s what I’m using this year, so I can make notes right next to the relevant verses.

The study Bible I use is the MacArthur NKJV Study Bible, and I also use the Enduring Word app, which is available free online.

I’m reading the Bible chronologically, starting with the Old Testament and am now on 1 Samuel.

‘Morning & Evening’ by Charles Spurgeon

I also read daily from Charles Spurgeon’s ‘Morning and Evening: A Devotional Classic for Daily Encouragement’.

So, the new direction for my blog is this – to share the things I discover as I study the Bible, my favourite verses, and the writings of Spurgeon.

Even though I’ll be focussing mainly on the Bible, I’ll still write book reviews and share stories as I write them.

I also plan on returning to blogging weekly, still on Tuesdays, and once I’ve settled into a blogging routine, I’m hoping to blog twice a week.

I hope my regular visitors won’t be disappointed by this decision, and I pray anyone who stops by will find the new content encouraging.
