Blog Plans for 2024

Our irons and boards are more modern… just saying. (Image - Karen Arnold on Public Domain Pictures)

So, this year hasn’t started the way I’d planned.

For starters, I’ve already missed 2 blogging days even though I’d had ideas for blog posts during the Christmas/New Year break.

Until I started this job, I had no idea laundry/ironing was a matter of life and death for some people… and I’m not kidding.

Some clients were almost thrown into a spin at the thought of not having their bedding washed-dried-ironed between Christmas and New Year… “but we have guests…

And the busyness continues.

I continue to be perplexed at the amount of washing or just ironing some clients have regularly each week – between 15 and 20kg!

The reason I applied for this job was because it’s part time, 4 hours 4 days a week, which left the afternoons free and that worked for me.

There’s nothing stopping me downing the iron and leaving at 13:00, but when there are still bags and bags of ironing to do, I can’t leave the others to it… none of us can, and we’re only a team of 5; the ‘joys’ of having a conscience!

And constantly finishing late means I’m too tired, mentally and physically, to do anything of note when I get home.

Before I started this job, I had no idea how taxing ironing can be when done constantly for long periods of time.

Added to that, my dear little car finally gave up the ghost in late October.

At least the bus from down the road gets me to work, but that journey is about 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

All that to say, I can’t promise regular blog posts for now.

I’ve got a couple of reviews – book and film – I’m in the process of writing up, and, hopefully, another book review after that.

I don’t know when I’ll post any historical topics as those do take a lot of time because of the research required.

For those still visiting my little blog, and for new visitors, please know I’m really grateful that you’re spending your precious time here – thank you.
