Autumn Loveliness

Trees in autumn

Liam now has two part-time jobs, both to do with horses, and he’s over-the-moon about it. One of the jobs is at the stables where he used to work, and he’s enjoying being back in familiar territory with, mostly, the same horses.

His other job came about by chance when one of the ladies who keeps her horse in the field up from the stables asked if he’d like to take over the job she was doing, which was looking after a friend’s horse.

Long story short, they were introduced, and Liam now looks after her horse. Conveniently, her horse lives just up the road from the stables. As he’s an old guy, he’s no longer ridden but is enjoying his retirement.

I went up with Liam a couple of days last week. It’s so peaceful, just the horses in the fields, and the call of birds. It’s not far from main roads, so you can hear the distant sounds of cars, but you can’t see them.

I’ve always loved the drive to the stables, once I leave the busy roads behind. And the autumn colours are gorgeous…

To give you an idea of the ‘stable run’, here are some photos from a few years ago, when Liam was working there full-time… Just so you know, Liam took the pictures while I was driving.

This towering beauty, by a busy main road, never fails to impress…
